Our child has not even been born yet and it is already trying to scare the crap out of us. Tuesday afternoon Beth noticed some bleeding, so we immediately called the OBGYN and they had us come in for an emergency ultrasound. YIKES!!!! I just can not believe how scared I was driving to the doctors office. I knew I cared deeply for this developing child already, however I could not believe how devastating the prospect of losing this child actually was.

Well all that worry was for pretty much nothing. The doctor came and we once again got to see the baby on the ultrasound screen. It was amazing how different the child was just 3 weeks later. We could clearly see the blood pumping through its heart and we could also see one of its tiny hands up near its face, almost as if it was waving to us and saying “hey Mom and Dad, I’m still here and OK.”

It appears as if a piece of the top back section of the placenta was attached to the uterus wall and some how pulled loose and caused a little bleeding. The doctor said that everything looked great even though this happened. He said it is not normal but nothing to worry about at this time. The baby looks healthy as does the placenta. We do have our regular appointment next week so they will check again anyway.

Well I am here now to announce the biggest news on the planet. No aliens are not ready to invade under the command of Elvis Presley. The big news is the fact that I am going to be a DAD! Around October 4th 2007, we should be bringing this new child into the world for everyone to meet. Beth and I are both very excited and can not wait to be the very best parents we can possibly be.

So in the coming weeks I should have plenty to write about in our journey to become parents. But for now I will leave you with the pictures of our new baby.

It may look like a bullfrog now but really it is a human child.
