Who is the proud owner of an Xbox 360? No not Martin Landau, well actually I do not know if he owns one or not, but that is besides the point. I happen to be the said owner of the Xbox 360, and yes I am proud.

This is an amazing product and it should be considering the amount of time that I, and the rest of the world, had to wait to get my hands on one. For the first time since its launch back in November of 2005 the Xbox 360 was for sale to anyone who could find one. And I just happened to be lucky enough to get my hands on one 4 hours after they went on sale at Circuit City last Sunday.

After having some time to play the 360, I must say that it is an incredible device from the way the games look to how it functions online, it is just an absolute joy to play. I love how you can now download demos and trailers of new video games and movies to your game system directly from Xbox Live. It truly is a great way to get a feel for future purchases without having to find a store that allows you to try the game before you buy it.

The first game I purchased was Condemned Criminal Origins. This game is so amazing. It is basically a crime solving game. A serial killer is on the loose and ends up framing you for killing to cops and now you have to prove your innocence. This game is scary creepy in most parts, crazy drug fueled maniacs jump out of the shadows or prowl around the edges screaming obscenities at you really set the mood of this dark game. This creepiness is increased ten-fold if you have the Dolby Digital Sound hooked up through a surround sound system and the game really makes great use of this feature. More often than not you hear things scraping or shuffling around on the back speakers and if you are playing this game in the dark you may jump a few times at the sights and sounds.

As I am only on the third level of the game I can not give any deep insight into the game but if the first two levels are any indication, then I am truly looking forward to the many more surprises this game has to offer.

Overall, I am throughly satisfied with my new gaming system and I will keep you updated as I get new games or find out any new things about this awesome machine.

Have you ever wondered what people used to do for fun to pass an evening? Before video games and television, what did people do to have an enjoyable time? Did husbands and wives break out decks of cards, board games, read poetry to one another, or other obvious activities to have a lovely time? Would we still think of these activities as an enjoyable way to spend an evening?

The reason I ask these questions is because last night I had the most enjoyable time with my wife. Now get your minds out of the gutter. You may ask, Jedbeck what could you have possibly done with your wife that was fun besides the things we were thinking before you told us to quit? Well I’ll tell you, My wife and I spent the evening blowing up Aliens. That’s right Aliens. Now before you get your favorite spatula all twisted let me explain. We were not really blowing up Aliens a la Area 51 or even Wil Smith’s ID4 and MIB summer adventures. In fact last night I taught my wife to play HALO.

Now we have spent many evenings before playing video games. However, they are normally the more timid family friendly games such as Mario Party or Super Mario Sunshine. Now you may ask, what made you go from these games to such a violent game such as HALO? Well it is elementary my dear Watson ….. er …. right, anyway… As i was looking through the issue of GMR the i received with my Xbox Live starter set, I saw a coupon for a Nintendo 64 for only $7.99. I then mentioned to my wife how funny it would be to buy that so that we could find a copy of Goldeneye to play. Goldeneye was one of the best multiplayer first person shooters. I remember skipping a few classes my freshman and sophomore years of college to play against friends and other people on my floor. Beth said that she also loved playing Goldeneye and she would always kick some major ass when playing that game. And this brought us to the subject of HALO.

So last evening for about two hours, Beth and I were going blowing up Aliens and occasionally each other. I mean really, how often can you throw a sticky grenade on the one you love with out any repercussions? So look out Beth is practicing and when HALO 2 comes out all you Xbox Live gamers better beware. She is ruthless and will take you down with no remorse.

EB is all right!

Well I must say that EB Games can have my business anytime. I no sooner walked into the store this morning to ask where my 12 month subscription card could be and the guy behind the counter (weirdly same guy as last night) asked what the problem was. I told him about what I discovered when I got home and he could not believe it. So he looked in the Crimson Skies case that I traded in last night. And there is was all bright and shiny like a new present on Christmas morning. Ok so I really didn’t see any light emitting emitting from the card, at least i do not think i did, but who knows I have been know to hallucinate while standing in a video game store. Like the one time when I thought I saw the Master Chief taking on a pack of wild monkeys wearing tutu’s. But any way….

Where was I….. Oh yes, I remember now.

Along with my subscription card the guy gave me the latest edition of GMR a five dollar value for free. I asked him if he was sure and he said it was the least he could do for my trouble. I was about to tell him for my trouble he could give me a Collector’s Edition of Halo 2, but I thought better of it. I mean i guess not being able to use the headset for one night really didn’t hinder me too much. But he doesn’t have to know that.

As Fate Would Have It!

Welcome to Jedbeck.com! I am afraid that instead of a welcome message I have decided to post a rant instead. I realize that this may be a negative start to my blog but I must do this to save my sanity and the sanity of my lovely wife.

Tonight I decided to get Xbox Live so that I could play NFL 2K5, Splinter Cell 2, and Crimson Skies with some of my friends back in Ohio. We got to EB Games at about 8:30 p.m., 30 minutes till they closed for the evening. We were going to price what it would cost for the starter kit without the game that they are selling the 12 month subscription with because I already have that one. I wanted to talk over the price a little before we decided to jump into it. We also had a few more errands to run before all the stores closed at 9 pm.

We also had to go to the pet store because I have a sick Bala Shark that I as I write this is breathing his last breaths due to an ICK infection that will not subside. But that is another story for another time.

Anyway, after the pet store we decided to go back to EB Games and purchase the Xbox Live 12 month starter Kit. We got it a little cheaper because I traded in the game that came with it. However it seems that was a bad idea due to the fact that I now have to go back to the store in the morning. Why, you ask? Well I will tell you why. It seems that they put the 12 month subscription card inside the game box. So right now I payed full price for just a headset. Ah well what is a guy to do.

Well one again I welcome you to my blog and look forward to serving you with nonsense and tomfoolery, (hopefully a little more uplifting next time) as often as I am capable.
